President’s Message

I keep a Ficus plant on the desk where I write this letter.  It sits in a ceramic container featuring two heads on either side, one looking forward and one backward -- a modern interpretation of Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and transitions.  I believe its image is apt for the time in which we find ourselves. 

Our Club has faced many changes over the years, but perhaps none so challenging as the present.  As gardeners, we are, by nature, creative, and the opportunities that lie ahead will come from reaching back into the history and traditions of our Club, and designing new ways of moving us forward.  We’ve already had a great start with our summer “Bicycle Project,” and “Open Garden Tours.”  I am confident that the talent and drive of our members will see us through this transition, and our “new beginning” will leave the Club stronger and better than ever.  I look forward to sharing the journey with you.
