Ikebana Corner

My name is Tania Mccann and I am a teacher of Ikebana - the ancient Japanese art of flower arranging. Ikebana, literally meaning “ flowers kept alive”, dates back to the 1400s, making the arrangements for the temples and for the tea ceremony.
There are many styles promoted by different schools and artists. I teach the Sogetsu school, which was started in 1927 by the founder Sofu Teshigahara, who questioned the traditions of Ikebana and preferred to respect the freedom of individual expressions: ‘Anytime, anywhere, by anyone’ -and with any materials.

I started my Ikebana journey 10 years ago while living in Europe, and it has become a big part of my life. Ikebana is the art of self expression, the face of nature, and I would be happy to share my knowledge with our members who I hope will enjoy it as much as I do.
